Water Aerobics
The Swimstitute, offers year round indoor water aerobic classes to the Rancho Cordova, Mather, Gold River, Folsom, Fair Oaks, Carmichael, El Dorado Hills, Granite Bay, and Sacramento communities.
Come join the fun and get a great workout at the same time, in our indoor, heated (85 degrees) pool.
Shallow water exercises, stretches and cardio are used to challenge and strengthen the entire body. Flotation belts, noodles, and dumb bells are used to increase aerobic fitness and muscle tone while having fun in the water. Students with or without swimming ability will benefit from these water aerobic classes and all levels of fitness welcomed. Our instructors will assist students to work at their own level and pace.
Benefits to water aerobics include, but are not limited to:
• Strength and toning. Moving in water requires 12 to 14 times more muscle resistance than land exercise.
• Flexibility and range of motion. It's easier to move your joints in water.
• Cardiovascular. Aerobic activity stimulates HDL (good cholesterol), while deep breathing increases the oxygen your body absorbs.
• Circulation. Warm water helps to increase blood flow.
• Weight loss. You'll burn more calories in water due to resistance. Walking for a half hour burns 135 calories on land or 264 calories through deep water.
• Endurance. You can exercise longer in water without getting overheated or tired.
